New hobby for me Last weekend, I got willingly sucked into the world of offroading. I had a blast even though my tahoe that I was driving didn't do so great (I guess not too bad for being relatively stock) but compared to my friends' jeep and Tacoma it was lame.
So now I'm looking into selling my Tahoe and getting a Grand Cherokee that's allready built up for off roading. The Tahoe is just too big for some of the trails and I don't want to dump a lot of money into it to mod it and never get it back.
I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me pickup this new hobby (and all of the $$$ that will HAVE to be spent on it
) Our original plan for the vette was to set it up for autocross and do that together. Well we decided that we/I can't do drag racing, autocross, offroading, and restoring my pickup...so autocross is probably getting the axe. I really like some aspects of autocross, but there are other parts that I don't like...such as paying $25-$30 per person for 4 runs (~1 min each) and being out at the track for 5 hrs....a lot of the time by yourself while you "work" the course (not like drag racing where we all sit around and BS)
I'm going to take the 'Hoe out next weekend with my wife to see if she likes it too, and if so the Tahoe will be up for sale.
So if anyone knows of or is looking for a 97 Tahoe let me know. Also, if someone knows of a lifted/modded mid 90s Grand Cherokee for sale let me know.

My first Toyota became part of a mud group, we had some of the best places on Tiger Mt (waaaaay before anyone thought to build up there) and it was kickass! The '2nd gen' toyota 4x4's were pretty much set up for off road off the lot, they even had a hard coat clear that no matter what you scraped around in *never* showed a scratch, web or to metal. I still have a picture of "naw, thats just a mud puddle" where the driver is sitting on the closed tailgate, nose complete immersed to the doors drinkin' a beer while we had a good laugh before hauling his *** out of that almost 4' foot deep swamp water 'mud puddle'. There was also "the stump" - about quarter a mile up the trail was a tree stump cut about 3' high on a 18% grade of sand. The trick was to charge up, round the stump and come down without either getting stuck on the stump or come flipping down. You had to have a passenger to throw their body weight once you got right at the top of the turn or you'd get stuck on the stump at best. Man, I miss the days of taking off like that but nothing for that kind of off roading is close anymore 
Not sure but Rottluver may still be looking for a Tahoe, just driving around out here from time to time you'll see a mud modded jeep with a 4 sale sign in the window. Weekends are best for checking parking lots around Monroe/Cottage Lake/Paradise Lake to Snohomish area for those.

Well I said f&^% it and went and got a jeep before selling our tahoe....cause when a deal comes along you just have to jump on it.
So I got a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Its got "a few" mods done to it. About $15k worth of stuff/equipment with it. High points are 33" tires, lockers front and rear, ~6.5" lift, front bumper with warn winch, 4.56 gears. Also has a header, flowmaster muffler, cold air intake. I oringinally wanted a v8, but decided that the 4.0L engine is a good engine and would probably be more reliable/cheaper than a mopar v8
So I paid only $5500 for it. A good buddy of mine says its easily worth $8-10k.
It needs a few things. Going to get an alignment hopefully this week, a oil pressure sensor, and a few other minor things.

no dents yet, but we'll see what happens on Sunday when I take it out into the mud!
I don't know that I'll make it out to the dunes any time soon....there are too many muddy trails to be concurred first!
So buddys at work are talking about hitting the Rubicon trail next summer
