Thanks all. I guess Mobil 1 might be over kill in big poo, but the long block is a GM crate with a mere 27,000 miles on it.

Bottom line, it's your rig Mike. Put in it what ever you want.

I run Amsoil 5-40 in the winter and 20-50 in the summer. And either an amsiol filter or the K&N long filter.

Just be careful with the K&N long (truck) filter....I run it with no problems but my car is only lowered an inch on all 4 corners. I have "heard" of guys with slammed cars that have had issues running the long K&N with much lower cars........don't get me wrong, the K&N is pretty much all I buy, but it works cuz my car isn't too low.....just something to think about.

Thanks, but my deep tranny pan is lower than my oil filter. No plans to lower my 4xFormy.

If your car is low enough to hit even the long K&N oil filter, you've got more serious clearance issues than just the filter... there's what, maybe a half inch overhang there with a longer filter? With that little clearance, I'd be more worried about crushing the oil pan than just worrying about losing the filter.

Rotella T for breakin and Mobile One afterwards.

I reckon I need to weld a tooth breaker on the bottom of my crossmember seeing how my pan is an inch lower than it is.

Never been a problem I have had. Just reporting what others have told me about the long K&N, never been an issue for me and so I just thought I would throw it out there on the chance someone reading this has a shadow scraper. And I think the problem was more the "socket/wrench bump" on the bottom of the K&Ns that was causing the issues for really low cars.......cuz that adds another good 3/4+ inch to the length of the whole thing.
