What can we say, it's Nov/Dec in Seattle. So far we've "only" had 1.5" of rain & 50mph winds. But IT'S COMING!!!

I can't remember it raining so hard here, everything around the house flooded within minutes. Haven't lost power since a few half hour spats but the wind is supposed to kick up soon through the night.

February last year was the big wind storm, its that time of year to have the generator filled and ready to go to work.

Hope you're all ok up there. My wife is up there right now too. Crummy weather I hear/read.

We just hope she can get on a plane Sunday and make it home, but I'm sure some of you probably have worse problems.

Now that my power has returned...It took me 2 hours to travel the 12 miles to work Friday. That is longer than it took the day after the Snowstorm.

We just got power back last night (friday) at about 11:30 pm or so. It had been out since Thursday evening at about 7:00 pm. We were just about to sleep in the garage last night because that's where the heat still was (Natural Gas space heater). We even had the cot out and sleeping bags ready to go. Thankfully the power people saved my wife from that injustice The dog and I weren't so concerned about the prospect... it's a nice garage after all and we've slept in worse conditions

We were lucky and never actually lost power... Lucky in that it seems people from towns all around descended on Auburn in order to get gas (something about gas pumps needing power I guess). Traffic was snarled so bad I decided to stay home and work, otherwise I can't imagine how people deal with trying to commute through that mess.

Almost all of life's conveniences as well as many necessities seem to hinge on electricity anymore... kcg - you bouncing off a satellite with your laptop running on solar cells to post that? I do hope everyone gets back to life as usual without further incident.

Take care all!

Checking in from work. Have have nothing but water. I just made a trip up by GearHeads and it looks like a combat zone. I went through one section where there were over 30 trees downed over the road along with all the power feeds and transformers. Luckly the new truck uses Diesel as getting gas when you can find it is like stepping into a war zone.

See you guys when we get power and cable again!

I've seen stronger winds and many tornadoes during Kansas and Oklahoma thunderstorms, but not blowing like that for all night. I swear I felt the house shudder a few times and thought the roof was going to go. Just lots 8 or 9 shingles and replaced those right away. I see a lot of shingle/roof damage around south hill area that people havn't fixed yet. They better take care of that before the rain hits again and gives them serious damage. We never lost power which is a nice change for us. Seems like we normally lose power after every little storm. Our friends have been hanging out at our house since it's sunday and they are still without power in Lipoma Firs. If I was going to be stationed here longer I'd buy a generator.

We got our power back around 6:30 Friday night, so we were lucky. There are places just a couple of miles up the road in either direction that still don't have power.
