The 06 has an LS2, not sure you can improve the intake much (or need to yet). Kooks are nice headers. But Ryan K bought some cheaper ones that seemed to work quite well....forget the brand now. Hey Ryan!

What you want is a cam, headers & a tune. Call Ellis.

IMO, you need some long tube headers (kooks), a cold air intake system, and a nice cat back exhaust to start with. You'll see 400rwhp with those mods!

I would think a little more then 400 even. if you think about it most LS1s rated at 305 to 325 dyno'd around 310 at the wheels Ive even seen one dyno 312 bone stock the LS2 is rated at 400 so I would think it would dyno a bit over what its rated with those mods. I dont know maybe not. but another farely inexpensive mod is gears. Id go 3.73 or maybe even 4.10 or something in between.

What about the Magnaflow setup? How does that sound? I get a pretty descent price break on Magnaflow.

Welcome to the herd!!!

You really should go to ls1gto.com and do some research. There are a lot of combinations.

If I had the 2005/6 model I'd probably consider:

1. the Volant CAI(I think that's the one that actually has a fully enclosed box to prevent ingesting hot engine bay air).

2. Kooks headers(Which Ellis is installing for me right now) & catted mid pipes.

3. Magnaflow Cat Back(They are a great product, but there are some sound clips of various cat backs at ls1gto you can play).

Also, with the 2006 models there is a known issue with the front struts. Don't be surprised if they go out in the first few weeks. They'll replace them under warranty.

If you are interested in more "vette" like handling, then the "must have" is a set of Hotchkiss Anti-Sway bars. Set to the softest settings they are night and day different than the stock ones.

05/6 models dyno stock at around 330whp/tq. With a complete new exhaust and intake along with an Ellis tune you're probably looking at 360-370whp/tq. The biggest difference the intake makes is much improved throttle response.

You'll have to bring her out to the dyno day!

sounds like my car
pluss a mild cam and a little happy gas.

as far as the power
I had 341hp/347tq on my 2005 (with a K&N and Borla Cat back) just under 30K miles on her

I hope to have new dyno numbers soon (Ellis is currently finishing mine up too)

OK, fine, be that way....

I gained 30+ hp & dropped 4/10ths with just a CAI & an Ellis tune on our 04 GTO. PFYC (local LS1tech sponsor) sells a NICE cat back that looks & performs better than Magnaflow.

Best bang for the buck is to have your stock TB and intake manifold ported.

Set of long tube headers work well but are pricey.

Ligenfelter or K&N open element air cleaner (refuse to say CAI). Even consider just a drop in K&N filter instead.

Get the car tuned by a competent tuner.

The work can be done by yourself less the porting.

If you ever plan to run the car at the track work on the rear suspension.

*in fact I have been considering returing to stock so I may be selling my parts.
