Default Zaino?

I'm contemplating trying Zaino on my car for the Seattle Roadster Show. My paint is starting to show it's age - scratches etc - and I want to make it look as good as possible. But I have NO experience with Zaino.

So, what all do I need? And where do I get it? (need it within 2 weeks) I ahve a Porter Cable buffer - which buffs do I need? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Or should I even use it on a red car?

I have everything you need, Mark.

The color won't make a difference but I would not use the PC. It is designed to be hand rubbed on and off. It is A LOT easier to get off then carnuba. But in this weather it would take a while for each aplication to dry. ... And there willl be at least three.

I used it on the vette and the WS6 and I know Chris Zaino'd the hell out of the SS and I love it. But it will not help your paint it just provides that plastic "polymer" look and shine that lasts and lasts.

So basically use the meguires or the german stuff I have with the porter cable and get the paint in the best condition with the polish you can.

Then do a quick coat of Z6 to clean it all up.

Then do either Z2 or Z5 I can't remember which is first then after 2 coats of the first do the second one 2 or 3 coats. The Zaino will REALLY bring out the shine and repell dust amazingly. Its similar but better than the NXT shine and lasts WAAY longer.

Use the Z6 between each application and after the final for app. Of course Use the best clean towels etc.

PM if you want I can probably round up all my Zaino and polish and mail it to you to use if you want. Bought time I made myself useful on this board

I highly recommend it although I do like alot of the new Meguire products coming out as well.

Hope that helps On a red car it is money, I wish I could remember where I uploaded the dyno of my Z06 it looked pretty shiney there

I have some as well your welcome to.

Year at the track it is probably time to hit the Menzerna twins then finish of with Zaino.

To answer your question I have always applied Zaino by hand.

I like the ease of the NXT, but yea it dosen't last very long. I used to do the multi step with Meg products and random orbital, but it's too much work. Now I need a professinal's help (Ricky). Zaino is great, but I like going to the store and getting what I want when I want it.

I have used Race Glaze since 1993 and have not found any better product ever. I use it with the PC, on very easy and off easier.

Takes out the small scratches and swirls and protects forever.
It is hard to find but there are a few places in the NW to get it. I think you may like it.

EH,..............well,,............."6 men and a boy with 72hrs".,..........that obvious poke aside,.....this stuff IS for the show and shine. I believe it will help a little as the paint seems to look a little darker! But like those of us who are too tired always say:,........."better you than me"!!

ZAINO Rocks! I've used a lot of waxes and polishes in my time, and I've never come across anything that works as well and lasts as long as ZAINO. The only downfall is the amount of time it takes to put on all of the applications and let it dry and stuff.

My '95 V6 on the right in 2001...next to Don B's '99 Z28(I think?)

Damn, you gotta apply Zaino by hand. Has anyone tried the Zaino swirl remover? (Z-PC)

Haven't tried the swirl remover, it is ridiculously easy to apply and remove there is no rubbing or buffing really. plus it dries clear which is very nice none of the white mess to clean from the cracks....

Z-PC is an abrasive and a "last resort" type of product. I would try using Meguire's Scratch-X before resorting to the abrasives.

I am in that same boat, I like being able to go a store and get my waxes if I am ever out in the middle of it, which hasn't happened yet. I always end up doubling up on stuff and buying random things when I am at stores.

I have seen some pretty good cars come out from the Zaino, worth a try imo. Worse comes to worse you claybar it off (if you even can with how slick it will look! ) and use whatever else you may like.

Yes I have tried Z-PC, works pretty good but not as good as the Menzerna Twins IMO.

There is a local guy that sells the Zaino, Don Lodell.

My paint is starting to lacquer check since it is original and has 155K miles on it but from 10' away you'd think it's custom paint....at least that's what everyone ask's when they see my car. Here's the hood with Zaino:

Nice John. No doubt black & Zaino make a killer combo. I think the deciding factor here is time. With all that I have left to do, I just don't see having 2 weeks to apply all those coats (& let each one cure in between). Guess I'll just do what I know & hope it looks ok....

Mark, you welcome to do it here in the warm shop if you want. It will make the wax flow better and much easier to get it off. You'd be best off to leave the car inside overnight to get it warm too. Just don't forget to leave the keys..... just in case I have to move it for some reason.
