Default Coveting...

You know, when you see something you REALLY want, and you could PROBABLY get it if you wanted to, but you know you shouldn't so you just sit and stew...

I have a friend on base here that's selling his '03 Cobra. Silver, basic mods done (2.5 pulley, Diablo, Magnaflow, off-set chrome Bullets, 255's front/315's rear), 53,000 on the clock. Asking $23k, but he told me today I could have it for $21k.

This guy takes good care of his stuff. Mods his cars but babies them and they are all garage kept. Never seen it dirty.

Dammit someone's gonna get a killer deal.

Called my insurance company today. Basically, for the same coverage on the Cobra as my Z28, it would double from $78/mo. to $161 a month. LOL

Wife just said, "you figure it out, I don't care."

Twist my arm some more.

This car has a Lambo door kit on it. Kind of odd and funky, and my buddy agreed with me when he first got the car. He almost took the brackets off and restored it, but then he figured out how easy it is to clean under the doors with the setup.

look at the total costs to drive it. gas maybe 300.00 a month, should be similar to current maybe a little more, loan for 21K about 425.00 a month and insurance cost increase about 80.00. total 885.00 a month

Well, lucky for me my car lasts about 8-9 days on a tank of gas because work is only 4 miles away.

I see where you're going with it though. When we lived in Tacoma, the wife and I were easily using ~2 tanks a week.

If ya can swing it, and ya really want it, go for it. I am thinking about doing the Lambo doors on my Dodge truck and a 100,000 watt amp for ten 16" bass speakers, not.

Holy God I wish I could afford a terminator. I would sell my car in a heart beat. Don't get me wrong, I love my car to death, but if I could swing the payments and insurance, I would be one. Nothing else touches the lovely orchestra of blower whine coming out of one of those things.

The brackets are easily removable, and the doors do open normally; swinging them up is an option.

Also, I think a blower for an LSx motor is a wee bit outta my price range. But if someone gives me the money to get one, I promiss I will give them a ride.

I have to disagree!

A LSX motor with a huge cam will get my juices flowing over that supercharger whine any day! Now add them together and you have a marriage made in heaven.

Just ask Mark.

Hopefully, "good things come to those who wait" applies to me. I want this car R-E-A-L bad, but my wife is starting school in May for her Master's and won't be working as much for the next 2 years. With her car payment, my bike payment, and adding another payment for this car would really tap us out. That would suck because if I got this car the first things I would head for is porting the blower and cams w/ tuning. Couldn't do that being tapped out, and as much fun as it would be to drive, it'd still suck not being able to play with it or tweak it.

Besides, wife agreed that if we wait 'till she gets out of school I can get whatever I want AND keep my Z28. My daughter Allison is gonna be driving in a few years. I trust her to drive the Z.

I'm sure that if I look hard enough down the road I could find a decent Cobra w/ low miles that hasn't been ragged on. Hell there's plenty of low-mile F-bodies in the For Sale forum here w/ low miles. Found an '02 SS just the other day with only 4,500 miles on it. The only other car I'm in the market for at the moment would be a Magnum R/T. Now something like that w/ a nice lumpy cam & exhaust would be a killer kid hauler I think.

I have driven the "terminator" and I have driven 99+ GTs and even fox bodies and NONE of them drive or handle as good and NONE are as fun to drive as the F-body in my opinion. I dont like the shifter feels like a tractors shifter the clutch SUCKS (no Hydrollics) and you sit upright like you are in a family sedan. just my opinion. ~Guy
