Default How much to o-ring block & heads?

So I've been thinking about the Chevelle lately and think I may want to step up to a LSx. Being that the cool motor to have was always a 454 I would like to do a 454 LSx. So with a 4.155 bore and a 4.185 stroke you get 453.96 I just think it would be fun to have a LSx billet emblem where 'SS' would be and the standard 454 emblem below.

Now going to the forced induction...
Custom TT would be fun and be something to be very proud of but that damn Kenne Bell 2.8L unit is way too ****** cool!!! I would probably make anout the same peak #'s as a TT the way I would do it but I couldn't get all the low end tq the KB gives you. Plus I can run a nice set of headers/exhaust and still have the great 'musclecar' sound.

So on to my question...
With a 4.155 bore on 4.4 bore spacing that leaves me only .245" of material between holes. With ~18lbs of boost that is pretty thin. So what all is involved in 0-ringing a block/heads and what can I expect to pay? Also, are there any down falls?

Heres the nice lovely graph and videos from Jeff (AmericanHP) on his 403 w/ a KB 2.8...

I have no clue, but it must be nice having 700+ft-lb torque right off idle!

Get the new LSX block from GM (not LSx), you can do just about any ci you want safely. They also have more head studs IIRC. Kinda pricey to go this route though, all new and everything. One of the vendors has a L92 427 short block available for about 5500, and with the new heads and intake and a fat cam 550hp is very doable n/a.
I had an LS5 454 back in the day, quite a torque monster.

I am talking about the new GMPP LSX. It depends on the price of the GMPP LSX 6 bolt heads and how well they perform. I know they will do well but how much $$? The L92's will flow 350-360 for $1500 assembled. Even with the new LSX being such a great block, .245" between cylinders isn't much gasket material for a FI car.

Ok, yea the LSx through me off. I think your kind of in uncharted territory. Not to many have any type of experiance yet with the LSX. I have a feeling once everything is pieced together your going to be looking at close to 10k? I think Noyzee (Brad) in the n2o section just got his block. Anyway, like you said, o-ringing might be the answer. 245 dosen't seem to bad to me, however, I am no boosted expert. maybe one of the FI guys can chime in ie: Ryan, Mark or...
Yea, the L92's have mucho potential. these are what i will be going with as the $$ allow.

Edit: I have been following Jeff's car all along. One bad azz ride for sure. he has done a great job, and man the looks are to kill for.

I would be taking away .155" of the .4" that is between the wholes though.

With the Professors LSX block (that Robert posted) you can go bigger than that. I think they claim 550 cu in's, @ 2500 hp. The beauty is the 6 head bolts encirling each cyl. Boost, spray, 14:1 CR....not a problem. But like Ellis said, not much exp with it yet.

I know there is a head gasket out there that has rings around the cyl too, I just forget which one.

You can go to a max of ~510... In ~1yr there will be a tall deck version coming out that will go to the 550 ci range.
