Default How often do you change valve springs?

I have not heard this once before....
Some guy on Cadillac Forum has a cam with over .570 lift and he was told he needs to change his dual valve springs every 30,000 miles.
Hahah,

It depends on a lot of things like rate, pressures, rpm etc. There are "stock" racers in stock and super stock racing that change them every race.

Doesn't sound unreasonable.

I know there are guys that do, on racers and car with serious lift, but I have never read anything on here about people changing out springs that often on cammed LSxs with lift under .600.
I just thought it was funny that he changes his springs every 20,000 miles in a cam with .571 intake and exhaust. He dosen't race it and it very rarely sees 6,000 rpm.

I check mine every 10K as recommended by Thunder Racing. Cam is a TR 227/231 with around 0.64X lift. With the TR224 and bee hives I had, I was told the springs were good for 15-20K. I pulled them off at around 14K and one of them came out in pieces. If you are running a cam with agressive lobes, better to check them at the recommended intervals.

Mike with the lobes on your cam it should be fine. that being said It would not hurt to check them every 20k. I am not sure what the life span on Golds are

I have ran the K-Motion K-800s to over 6 and 7k for year. No failures so far but I replace every once in a while Every time I think I am having a valve spring problem I find the opti going bad

I change mine once a year but I run very aggressive lobes that pretty much kill springs. I am hoping to get 2 years out of the Nexteks I bought this year.
