Default Oregon Folks, need some help

Anyone down there know a good lawyer for speeding tickets? My sister got a ticket on her way back from vegas and needs a lawyer.

Thanks in advance

I think that gal everyone uses in Washington has a relative who practices law here in Oregon? Does anyone know about this? I remember reading about him quite a few months ago.

Was she speeding? Tell her to pay the fine and move on. I had 11 of them before I joined the navy. A couple of them were the big ones. $385 a pop. Can you even retain a lawyer for less than that? Unless things have really changed since I moved away, I say you tell her to plead no contest and pay the fine.

My $.02

Even the guy I wrote for 125+ only had to pay $475.

That sucks...with all the new laws now a days, they probably tacked a bunch of stuff onto her ticket...reckless driving...speeding...etc..etc..going that much over, she's lucky she didn't go to jail and have the car impounded.

they had to for that amount. $1100!!! I passed a Geo Metro in a 45 mph zone while I was doing well in excess of 100 mph. Didn't know the cop was behind me when I did it (to busy watching the speedo and the Geo). I got off with a 15 minute lecture and $385 fine and considered myself lucky.

Probably was because she was out of state as well, figured she wouldn't try and fight it being in a different state.

^^^You said it right there.

I have known many friends that that has happened too. And when they go to pay it, they would ask the judge either over the phone or in person why they charge so much for out of staters. The judge put it simply, "Cuase you in most cases won't be able to fight it, so you just pay it."

I recently hired one in Corvallis who is doing some work for me. He has a $2500 retainer, but if you think it might be worth it, shoot me a PM and I'll get you his info.

There is a new, well not so new anymore, law in Oregon where if you go over 100 they can suspend you for 30 days automatic. I also believe it's a felony as well, not just a misdemeanor(sp). I'd recommend a lawyer. Sounds like she's in deep doo doo

careless driving is a $242 fine and thats what they hit you with if they dont know your speed.

I think the fine for going over 100 mph is $1000 as well. I think thats what the cop had said.

And anything that goes on her driving record in Oregon automatically gets send to Washington as well. That's an insurance canceling kind of ticket if she gets convicted/pleads guilty/no contest.
