I was thinking of selling mine aswell, Just to turn around and buy one that has a lot of work done to it allready.. lol. My wife is all for it, but I would really like to do everything myself. And plus I would probibly loose my *** on selling it.

Just to let you know that all LS1 F-bodies essentially have the same HP, regardless of what the factory rating is. The one exception is in 01 and 02, they came with the LS6 intake.

Some did come with some factory options, but are easily duplicated/surpassed by aftermarket parts. (air lid and exhaust are the two obvious examples)

If I am not mistaken, I read somewere that the 98-00 had a slightly bigger cam in them, Now I am not saying that it was a drastict difference, but it was slightly different. So once they started putting the LS6 intake on a few of the 01's and then all the 02's, They changed it.... Now dont qoute me on that, I just remeber reading it somewhere. So correct me if I am wrong

All 01s and 02s have the LS6 intake (only some used the LS6 block)

You're right that there were some cam differences between the years, but I was always under the assumption that it had to do more with emissions than power. That's how they got away from using the EGR valves that the 98, 99, and maybe 2000s have.

But like I said those little tweaks and changes really didn't make too much of a difference.

BTW, my old 01 Formula with just an airlid made 321RWHP

Oh and ls1's don't use "chips" you have to get a programmer like a diablo sport. Personally I think most of us here would have Ellis (TwoFast4Lv) do a custom tune from our experience. I'd do that, get a lid, and a good set of headers and I think you'll be happy. After that I'd look at a cam.

My car ran a 12.55@113mph (see sig for video) with a Lid/Cam/Headers/(LS6 Intake Manifold as it's stock on 01/02's) on street tires.

Not sure how much Ellis charges but most shops charge around $150 an hour for a custom tune and from there it just depends on how long it takes to tune your car..........

http://www.slponline.com/ will give you info on the Lid and the Headers......

if you plan on having a shop install the headers then plan on payin a hefty price........typical shop labor time is $80-$95 an hour

Avoid the SLP headers for an F-body they are a pain in the *** to install believe me I know lol, that and they scrape on just about every speed bump even if you're not lowered. Best bank for your buck headers are probably hookers or similar from a sponsor.

As far as lids go a lid is a lid.

Yeah maybe thats what it was... I am unsure what I am making with just the few mods I have, but being an auto, I am thinking around 325... Maybe!!!! One of the better improvements they had though was the rod bolts and the heads, when thay changed to 241's. They don't give more HP, but they give you better insurance.. and the 241's are alittle higher quality than its predessor.

~300-310 with a manual tranny (regardless of SS or z28)
minus ~20 for an auto

You are going to need to do some actual research before purchasing a car........Google is definitely your friend as is the n00b section on this very forum........

but, i am at work and i am bored so i will continue to answer questions as best i can......

You can't listen to what GM rated the cars out becz the LS1's in these cars are the same ones that went into the Corvettes and they were rated higher......

stock 01/02 SS Camaros have been known to dyno 305-315 whp in stock form.........

Price shouldnt be much of a difference between a Z28 and an SS unless you are looking at a Z28 with no options at all and a fully loaded SS.........

If you want more bang for your buck then you want one with no options becz the Leather and extra stereo equipment adds weight to the car......

also, i believe LS1 powered 01/02 F-Bodies had the LS6 intake manifold and the cam out of the LSx based motor that GM put in its trucks
