Neighbor Issue (long)
Neighbor Issue (long) I came home from work today and there is a truck parked on the side of the street and 75% in my front yard. I think its one of the family members my wife has over for her parents 52nd wedding party. So after everybody gone my wife calls the neighbor and ask her to have the truck moved off the yard, she says ok. About 20 miniutes later she calls again and ask here again, a 1/2 hour passes and I walked over there and 60 something year guy with a attiude comes to the door, I ask him to move the truck from my yard..he said it wasn't happening..I said move it or I'll call the cops. He says go ahead. I walk away and call them. They show up and the jerk moves the truck. I'm standing in the driveway and tell him I'm not looking for any trouble and he went off with name calling. The guy is being a *** and I let it go Not sure where to go from here as he said we're bulling the wrong person

It sucks that some people are like that. We've been blessed with respectful and cooperative neighbors. My advice...it's time to put up a good fence. They say good fences make good neighbors.

Not really, and I am a grandpa too.
Once in awhile we just have to be the bigger person and let it go, as hard as that is sometimes. Took me long enough to learn. So, as long as they do nothing more to aggravate the situation, pretend nothing happened.

I think my first reaction to "you're bullying the wrong person" would automatically be...
"Go **** yourself..."
I don't know, just kind of rolls off the tongue for me rather quickly in those kinds of situations. He's an idiot, plain and simple, trying to show some kind of bravado. Really... he's got to have some big wrinkly ***** to be 60 years old and threatening people. Maybe we need to take away his social security check and his prune juice to shut his false teeth wearing yap.

That sucks. I have to deal with an *** like that when I go to the track some times 
I always take the first step in the right direction. He always goes the other way. All you can do is smile and do what you know is right. Even when they are yelling in your face spittal(sp) coming out of there mouth on your face all you can do is smile

When I first bought this house the elderly neighbors on the next lot were really grumpy. They hated the dog (now plural) and called animal control because he went to the lake *once* claiming he was vicious, the color we painted the house was wrong, didn't like the much needed tree thinning, where we put our garbage can (they apparently claimed the one on the side of the road in a specific spot with 8 other cans), didn't like the way I was clearing the lot from brambles and overgrown holly and drove too fast for a single wide dead end lane.
Over time that has changed. Every bit of it. The house is the right color, they will toss the ball for both dogs if they are out with us, they don't care where the garbage can is on pick up day, have thanked us for clearing the trees since they get more light and less clean up after a storm and cleared their entire lot of overgrown holly and brambles. And they drive slower after some idiot hit our dog right in front of us. It didn't happen overnight, it took about 2 years which is nothing now since I've lived here 13 years.
They just didn't like anyone new. Change was scary for them. If they could bully you and you bent *you* were the sucker though if you called the husband an ***, instant friends. Maybe they know their daughter needs help but they can't provide it and are concerned you and others in the hood will shut her out or something.
Seems strange but sometimes you seem to have to prove you aren't going to back down, are good people and you have their respect - hope that is going to be the same for you as well.

I had this same problem in Tacoma, I invited Ellis, Ryan and a few others over for a BBQ and some fun. After the smoke cleared he was very nice to me since I would make life worse if he wasn't.

Best advice has already been stated--forget about it.
Sometimes kids will park their cars in our cul-de-sac to go play ball at the school behind our house. Some of them park so their cars our over the sidewalk with their tires on the lawn. This is in a place where it's illegal to park at all. What I have done a couple of times is take my floor jack and move their cars into the street--leaving them at a funny angle so they know someone's done something with their car. It causes no harm but they won't park there again either. Funny watching them when they come back and walk around their cars.
