Default oil change fun

if someone ever tells you the easiest job you can do on your car is an oil change, they are full of ****.

I have oil on my car, I have oil on my clothes, I have oil in my garage, I have 6 quarts of oil I now need to recycle, it's a miracle I have oil in my engine, and - worst of all - I have oil on my driveway.

The driveway has quite a slope, and now there's a slick patch right where I have to give it some gas to drive up within inches of a rock wall.

Is there anything I can use to make it less slippery? Help!

Greased lightning at home depot or lowes and a pressure washer does miracles.

changing the oil on the corvette is kind of a pain since after it's up on ramps, then you have to jack the rear way up since the plug is in the front of the pan.

Nope, it's pretty much one of the easiest/simplest things to do, haha. Good luck with the next change.

DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no ramps. My jack sucks. I did not have a socket for the drain plug (I think the dealer overtightened it last time I changed oil) and I had to use short wrench. I could not get it to stand flat on 4 jacks so the car was balancing itself on 3 jacks as I was hammering ******* wrench. I had nightmares tonight about the car falling down and crushing my skull. My jack topped out when I was trying to raise the rear to tilt the pan. The piece of wood I tried to use to get it higher cracked. I had no idea screwing out the filter after draining through the plug squirts so much hot oil on your unprotected body parts.

never again! anyone wants to buy oil change-related tools? used only once....

I spent more than that on the plastic catch pan thingy, oil wrench and 2 extra jacks. Not to mention 3 hours of my saturday plus another hour of clean-up today. Oh and a new pair of jeans since the ones I wore are ruined.

I also think I broke my jack since it makes a funny sound when going down now.

OK I need to calm down now.

Hahaha. Man sounds like you had a horrible time with this, that blows. Wait til that thing cools down before you start working, it makes it that much easier haha. Hate to hear all that happened though for real.

Haha, I get ya
I have a shop too, it doesnt take long to pull it onto the lift, drain into the pit, put new plug/filter on, and fill it back up. 10 minutes is probably too much time these days, haha. I'm not old just yet, I'll update you in 50 years though, haha.

Hahahaha, longDaddy i got ya beat. the last oil change i did on my z was nightmare also. got the drain plug out and then when coming out on my creeper i hit the drain pan and knock it out of the flow. the entire contents went running down my driveway which I saw when i came back later. What a freaking mess, still has black patch to this day. dish soap and garden hose along with a bristle brush. watch taking it to a shop, many do not know how to lift a vette properly, ask Jon.

There's alot of shops that dont know how to lift a camaro, firebird, corvette, etc, etc. One of the reasons I dont like someone else doing something as simple as this. I bet you were pissed after seeing all that oil running down the driveway eh? haha
