That car is lighter then you think My 74 Z28 was only 3400 with power every thing and a 12 bolt/TH40 SBC combo

Mine weighs in at 3400lbs with me in it. the faster you go the more you get to add to it! More then one person has ran 9.99 with a rollbar, installed a cage and went 10.10's!

As I said faster cars need safety items which make them heavier.

The only Safety item that I'm short is the cage and surely a decent one doesn't weigh 300-400lbs!

I can see this range. I already have the scattershield and DS loop. Longer wheel studs are pmaybe ~10#'s. Other than the belts to go with the cage what else is there?

there is a big difference in a rollbar and a roll cage. A rollbar in mild steel will add 150lbs. A roll cage with support structure is another 150#, it also depends on if you use mild steel or chromoly. I have a old heavy cage in mine and Ellis has a chromoly. G-bodies are known to be reasonably light from the factory. That is why the 79-81 malibu's are hot right now. They make a great race car.

The real hoot was a civic rolling with with 2 Z06 rears under the back hatch. People were giving him the looks on the I5.

Anyway, we had to get 8 wheels with R tires to nevada and back. One corvette one civic. The only way to do it was to split the sets, worked out good.
