The Official "call out" thread
It has been hard at times to get the tracks to step up for what you are asking. The rules are there for safety reasons and some may seem un-nessasary until they save your life. I agree I do not like some of the rules but If I have an accedent at the track I am fairly safe.
I pushed to try and get a real street setup going here but the tracks are not interested.
ALOT of the old street racers around here run in the NPSA classes now.
The others refuse to install even the simplest safety equipment so they can go race at the track.
Your Idea is a good one. Expect there to be alot of police trolling your site and be carefull.
Insurance, Liability, and Litigation are the keys.
No track owner/operator is going to put themselves at risk of losing their insurability, get separate insurance, or be liable for Thousands to Millions of dollars in potential litigation, for a small handful of rednecks that can't be bothered to put a Transmission Shield on their car.
My 2 main Pet Peeves in todays society is the Pussification of everyone, and due to that they've all become a bunch of Litigous vultures.
Unfortunately this has changed the way we live forever.

I guess I should have stated it, but tracks around here aren't interested in paying for the (more expensive) Non NHRA insurance. Many tracks in the NW are only NHRA sanctioned for the sole reason of being able to get this insurance. You guys can't believe how stuck in their ways most of tracks in Division 6 are. I'm not going to get into depth here. Anyone wants to know my experience can give me a call or PM me.
BTW, if you aren't smart enough to put the right safety gear on your car, then please don't be in the other lane next to me if your car is "Fast". For all I know on of the C-Clips in the Rear is gonna break and you're going to run into me. I have had several people I consider friends in accidents to bother anymore.
Don't take me as trying to be all high and mighty, but there are *some* things that just need to be done. For your safety, the car next to you, and the one running in your lane right behind you. But, If I don't think you can handle your car, or that your car is obviously unsafe (in the respect of you possibly being a Ping Pong Ball between the walls), I'm not going to go snitch on anyone, but I won't be in the staging lanes next to you. Sorry.
I don't agree with all the rules in the book. There are alot of rules that are just about the money for the manufacturers. Buying new parts to replace Non-Wear items that are expired is my #1 problem (Flexplates, Balancers, Trans Shields, Trans Cases, Bellhousings, the list goes on....... ).

Even after they watch thier friends get wadded up in a 185+mph crash and one of them gets life flighted........see if any of them ever do anything to upgrade thier safety............Just a harsh reality of race cars and people.

Boyce, sending you a PM.
Racing is FUN, and I plan to live & continue doing it!
That said, I call out Jeffy's new TT Vette.
By all means I think you should have the equipment for your own safety and the guy next to you.
I just have to guess there are some fast cars out there without it, and once and awhile it be nice to see them come out and play.
I can't wait to see Jeffy's vette running
. That is why my car is getting a parachute this year
The old rule was 135mph(they moved it to 150mph) and it would have made the ride I took a lot less eventful!
I also believe in anti roll bars!
