Default LS1 Help

I am doing a conversion on my 68 camaro. I pulled the engine apart to paint and now Im close to getting it installed but Im unsure of all of the emissions stuff that has to be kept. Is anyone here familiar with the LS1.....not to be offensive but I need someone who knows what needs to be there and what can be eliminated. I have the computer reflashed and have all of the parts needed but I want to avoid the head scratching when getting this thing fired up. I will pay for the help or trade for work. I do paint, airbrushing, welding, fabrication, Mill work etc... Ricksvt and Tyler know me well. I used to run an 03 cobra with these guys. I dont have the contacts with the LS1 guys like I have with the SVT guys so any help would be appreciated.

I would actually love to help, as I'm putting a 5.3L in my 68 C-10, but I barely have time to work on my truck myself.

Some others that would be good sources would be Jon B. and another guy from Gig Harbor (can't think of name) as they've both done GenIII swaps.

Can you be more specific about what you want to know Chuck? What year motor is it? Is it stock? Did you get the OEM wire harness? Do you have HP Tuners or equiv?

If you want to know if you need to keep the AIR & EGR, the answer is no. You can delete those systems, plug the holes & turn the codes off in the computer.

You can also delete the cats & rear O2 sensors. You will need to install O2 sims to keep the computer happy, but the A/F gets determined from the front O2 readings.

And if you want to know what to do with the 2 plugs from the PCM that go into the dash on our cars, I have no idea. I think those wires are mostly for driving the speedo & the OBDII interface, but I've never had to trace them down.

Beyond that you probably need to ask....

It is a stock ls1 out of a TA and I have the computer that has the vats deleted and an extended harness. All of the cars wiring is new. I have the Clutch master cylinder done. The tunnel is raised for the t-56 and done. Motor is assembled and done. Headers clear, ACC drive is done. I have a handle on the A/C. The exhaust will be done soon. Motor is in and out and everything clears. For those who have done the conversion it would probably be a piece of cake, and I could probably figure it out but with all of the info on here it would go alot smoother.

My number is 425-231-3606

Thanks EJ for the heads up on Ellis....Rick has talked about him and his name comes with respect.

I bought all of this stuff from Rick when he split with his wife.....its just a matter of going through the totes and putting it together.

EJ you probably worked on this car as much as I did after I sold it to Andy. I was lucky to get it back in the same condition as it was when I sold it. Give me a call soon....

If you delete the rear 02's you definitely don't need to get sims. At least that is the way I read your post.
