Hey dude,
Might wanna look at http://ls1howto.com/
I did my own head/cam swap and I'm pretty much a noob. It was easy and saved me a ton of money.

From reading other threads, he is located in the Portland area. TJWONG on this board has a shop in Vancouver, and is very knowledgable. If you choose to have someone do it, I highly recommend him, but as most have said, you can do it yourself and save some $$$. I rebuild all my own engines and several of us in the PDX area do our own work. Just ask if you need some help, I'm sure someone will help.

I rent the tools out to do the job. I can also be available to help if you dont have the money to drop on a shop to do the work. It's not hard, you will how ever need to have someone tune it for you. We have a mail in option with Trifecta or you can take it to Turbo Tech or Ellis or Tom. Not sure of your location. I can do the work for you as well for a less expensive option but then you dont learn. If money for labor is not an issue then Ellis or Turbo Tech or Tom all have shops and are very qualified.

True that - just ask.
I believe that the criteria I stated was "to do it right". That includes verifing the cam timing (degreeing) and making sure what you bought is what you installed.
I wouldn't do it for less.....

Let's see here, 2 torque wrenches, sockets, wrenches, degree wheel, valve spring comressor, feeler gauges, LS1 pan alignment tools, floor jack, etc etc. yeah, easily a grand on tools to do it RIGHT.
But STILL crazy.
x5 for Ellis if you're up north, x2 for TJ if in Portland, Turbo Tech Inc in Tacoma if you're central.
Oh, and then there is tuning, which all 3 shops above can do, and do very well!
