Oil pressure problem...
Well B-Rad2's oil pressure randomly dropped down to near red on the gauge so we installed a new LS6 oil pump (unported) today. Fired the car up and it went to 40 psi and higher when revved. Went for a quick drive and lost oil pressure. Wtf? What needs to be checked first? The pick up tube seemed to seat in the pump nicely and no other things seemed odd. Any ideas??

It really doesn't sound bad. This started after i got it tuned. the oil prssure is fine at start up(when cold) but it drops once i get up to normal temp. On my way home last night driving down the freeway it was just under 20psi. When i stopped at a red light it dropped to just over the red.
Ellis- are you thinking about cam bearings??? I only have 40k on the motor

Sounds like the oil pressure sending unit.
Do like ellis said and put a regular mechanichal gauge in and take it for a drive.
At least eliminate that possibility. Seen many factory sending units act glitchy and do things similar to what you're describing.

I hate to say it but when muff daddy had the 408 built that is now my car he had the same issues. Turned out that the original builder didn't check the line hone on the block and that caused the main bearings to go bad
