Got rid of the TB today.
We made a decision to get rid of our Trailblazer today. An average of 14.4 mpg over the last 4 months sealed the deal. Wife's rig and does mostly city driving back and forth to work. We'll miss it as it was a good dependable rig with lots of room.
Replaced it with this....
04 Volvo S60-R AWD
This thing handles like it's on rails, has seats that are more comfortable than any car i've owned, so far has averaged 26mpg and i'm sure it'll go down some with more city driving, pulls pretty damned hard as it is a 300hp, 258tq.
Trade in / resale value of gas guzzlers sure sucks right now!

I'm right behind you, looking to trade my 06 Bmw 750Li in for something a bit more economical. It's not the note or insurance thats getting me (oddly enough) but to fill it is hitting me for 85 bucks a whop 2 times a week. Nice Volvo tho

They had it on "sale" for 19k, beat them down to 17k.
After searching for other R's I think I got a good price.
As far as mod's go i'm sure there's quite a few of them that might be relatively cheap since it's already a turbo but it's the wifey's car and stock is fine with her. Cheaper for me that way too!

Niiice. Those are fun, and are in the 13s stock so a pretty quick car. Those are the brakes that are going on my project Vo-vo . I hope you don't have any bad luck with maintenance and stuff though, first year and all.

I'm confident that it'll be a good car. Did lots of research of previous / current owners and I haven't found any common problems with these. For some reason they got the "1st year" thing right on this one. Maybe it's because it's really only the 1st year of the R package. S60's got all the bugs out by 03 from what i've read.
I brake boosted it tonight at a light and when I lifted off the brake I actually got a chirp out of a couple tires I was suprised.

Found out also the torque is governed down in 1st and 2nd gear to preserve the auto? Also heard it is to keep temps down on the auto. 6 speed has no such thing. Aparently IPD will reflash the ecu to delete the automatic torque managment and increase hp and torque. I guess it's the best bang for the buck on these things.......
OH WAIT! Not my car. DO NOT MOD THE WIFE'S CAR! DO NOT MOD THE WIFE'S CAR! Do NOT mod the wifey's car!

Damn, and I just bought the wife another new Suburban...... Oh well, I have 4 kids and we need the room. I was stuck with a Suburban, so I traded the 03 in on the new one with active cylinder mangement. They will really deal on these gas guzzlers right now too......
Very nice car, by the way. It looks VERY comfortable. I heard those cars are very safe too....

Thanks, Yeah this thing is comfortable as hell in the pilot or co-pilot seat. Got me pondering one for a commuter car.... 6speed for sure. I'm dreamin' maybe in a few years when the price comes down more.
I think this thing has more airbags than i'd have imagined.
