Well, Boyce and I had the start of a great race going. The car had been running great in practice road. We got right up to our tech speed of 180mph (except in the speed trap where our tech speed is open) then backed off to 170-175 on the first of the straights. Then through the tunny section thru the hills I was running 150-160 for most of the 12 miles of curves. This opened up into the 8 miles of the speed trap straight we were running 204.8 about a mile before the trap and slowly accelerating. As we entered the trap we started losing speed and slowed to 200.4 mph as a trap speed. As the speed continued to drop to 190mph Boyce points to gages and give me the shut down sign. I stop the motor and look at the oil pressure gage reading 0 and the maxed over 300 oil temp. gage. We suspect we lost the main bearings and will have to see what all is damaged. We don't know yet if our oil pump went out or what else. except we had the oil pump rebuild 1 yr ago and new belt and pulleys for this race. So basically it was fun while it lasted. I had a 164 mph average going with 12-15 miles to go. Richard Hille in a black Camaro was 208mph one direction thru the trap and 212mph the other.
