Sounds like you need to adjust/tighten the caliper's.. Thats the only thing I can think off.

the large 18mm mounting bolts or the smaller ones?--i don't think they require that much torque do they?

The smaller ones, that holds your two peice caliper together.. May need new bushings in there. Lot of Miles???

May want to check your parking brake then, Take the disk off and inspect the inside drum, and brake pads..

Na, more than likely you will just need to replace your pads... How often do you use your parking brake?

lol alot actually, i use it every time i park, i don't like leaving it in gear-i think thats just something i picked up from the military, very few vehicles have "park" so you have to leave it in neutral an use the parking brake. Question about the parking brake--it's just one side of the vehicle right? passenger side corner?

When I put new pads/rotors on the rear I noticed a clunk when I would go into reverse. It went away. A friend of mine who is a GM service tech said it's normal to have that happen with new pads and rotors on a floating setup. It should go away once it's all bedded properly.

I wondered about that too, i wasn't sure if i bed them properly either--this may sound like a dumb question but is it possible to "re-bed" them without having to resurface the rotor? I got the hawk pads with brembo blanks put on saturday an did the all day driving clinic at pacific raceways the following monday, they held up fairly well with only a little bit of fade towards the end. thanx for all the input guys.

Hmm...that sounds familiar. I think mine started up right after a lapping day as well. I'd notice it first thing in the morning when I backed up out of the driveway. It went away after a month or so. Give it some time.

And congratz on learning how to drive!!!

lol i did the exact same thing pull the caliper horizontally towards the rim and pushed in towards the engine. After getting under the car and checking bolts (thinking loose suspension bolts) I was like WTF . and my buddy went to start poking around and pushed the caliper vertically problem solved.

if you havent gotten the bolt yet go to your local napa and ask for a caliper hardware kit and you will get 2 of em and also the sleeve that they bolt into (i replaced the sleeve as well just in case).
