Prepping Chrome for Chrome Spray Paint?
Prepping Chrome for Chrome Spray Paint? So I just bought a used set of Chrome Cragers, but a couple of the center caps are really bad. So I think I'm just going to buy some "chrome" spray paint, as they do not need to look perfect by any means.
What should I do to the caps to prep them for the paint though?

I was thinking of maybe a gloss black too but I'd really like to try to keep them chrome. I'm going to have to see how my Photoshop skills have held up and see if I can Photoshop how it would look.

Anyway, I sanded them down as much as I could and put a good layer of primer on them then one coat of Rustoleum Metalic "Chrome". They came out looking decent but you can tell they are off a bit - whichs sucks because now I will have to even sand down and repaint the one that is in good condition otherwise the centercaps won't all match.
I also talked to Cragar and it turns out they no longer make center caps for these rims but they make a different style cap that will work with minimum modification.

I tried black real quick, it didn't look very good at all. I mite just end up buying the new caps and see what I can do.
