Well guys, Ive got a close friend that is going to repaint my TA for 1500.00 this spring here. The car is pewter, and I wont be jamming it so im going to keep the stock pewter base and tweak it. My question to you guys is, should I add more metallic, or perhaps pearl?? Perhaps both?? He is going to spray me a few test panels so we can go from there, but wanted to see what you guys thought. Anyone done this perhaps?? Stock base Pewter with more metallic or even pearl added?? I want as much depth as I can get out of the paint for being such a light color.

we have done it with diff colors but not with pewter as far as an all over paint job! My suggestion would be to go with more metalic, unless you want a little depth in the paint and a little flop by adding pearl (depending on how much you add)! Gl and post pics when done! Also make sure you keep up with how you all mix for future references!!!!

Yes, im looking for abit more depth. So we were thinking adding some pearl into the paint to get the depth. We will be sure to keep track of the mix for future reference. It wont be getting painted untill mid spring, but I will be sure to put up pictures when it gets done.

i am doing this to my camaro as we speak, tried 8 different pearls and 4 different variants of the color and i found the coarser variant to look best which has a heavier metallic, im spraying glasurit and they show 7 variants of the color. all the pearls made the color look too hazy and milky, eve when they were mixed with the color. its a personal favorite just letting you know what i am going with.

Awesome. Ill let him know that you said this. He hasnt had time to shoot the test panels yet, but I will see what he says about it. he has grown up in a body shop his entire life, so this might be one of the ideas he was going to do. Thanks again!!!

glad i could help
i tried this one time, try this- regular base then get a little over spray on it(i would say blue or red) to where you can only see it at an angle and not when you are looking at it straight then shoot clear over it. might have to spray a heavy coat of clear then see what happens.
do it on a test panel and if you like it try it on the car
