Default Drilling Spotwelds

I want to remove some useless brackets in the car so I'm looking for some suggestions on spot weld removal. I am probably going to just go with a spot weld drill bit, but what size? Seems like 1/4" should do it, but do I want to go bigger to be safe? Also anyone have any recommendations on brands, any tips/tricks? Any help is appreciated as always.

Thanks,
Sean

Yes, you want to go a little bigger than the spot weld.

I've seen the ready-made ones but have always
just made my own. I take a 3/8 bit and corner-
grind it on the bench grinder so it has a tip and
wings. Drill a 1/8" center hole right through the
weld spot and then use the cutter bit. ^V^
