Question LT1 D/S fender fuel lines

Anyone ever shave this and smooth it over? I am swapping a LS series motor and turbo so i am cleaning up the engine bay and don't like that hole. I was thinking of cutting it out then welding a flat(well contoured) piece in there.

Anyone have pics?
