Default Paint ESTIMATE??

Hey guys, I just wanted to know what I should expect to pay for the following things (circled in black) to be painted/fixed, and generally a good buffing all around the car to brighten up the paint

WS9 Hood
Front bumper
Rear bumper
Nicks around car/buffing

....here's some pics

WS9 Hood

Front bumper

Front bumper crack

Back bumper

Thanks!

I would guess that it would cost $100- $200 to buff the car. To paint each bumper would be around $200 to $300 a bumper. Red is the most expensive color there is to paint. You may be able to get the cost down on paint by having the bumpers painted with a single stage paint.

IN addition the hood another $300. I would leave the underside black if you don't mind it, it will save on paint costs.

well its not just paint time its also body labor included in the estimate, removing of the front and rear cover, repair time on front and rear covers, blocking and preping the hood, me personally i wouldnt just sand it down and paint it, i would sand it block it, basicly making it look real nice

where i work body labor is 65 an hour, paint labor is 56 an hour,

so i want to say its 1.5 or 2 hours to remove front cover, 1.5 to remove rear cover
now repair time front cover at least 4-5 hours, rear cover i would do it for 3 hours repair time
all that is at 65 an hour^^^^^^^^^
paint time i want to say is 3-4 hours per bumper at 56 an hour
the hood i would do it for 6-7 hours body labor. paint labor maybe 5-6
you could also want the fender blended we can get the red close but it will never match dead on sun fades the clear, old age, i would do the whole nose

and then you have to include tax, material cost, sand and buff, cover car, hazourdos material cost, tax here is 9%, so add all that up, then you have your estimate

its not going to be cheap, we dont work for peanuts ya know, quality is costly, ya want butcher work then go to macco, you want the quality then you pay bottom line

I write estimates so I whipped you up one real quick and it came out to $1,200.63 but this is at our labor rate which for some reason is a hellofalot cheaper than bdyman @ 42 body and 26 paint. Thats without blending the fenders though....which might not be a bad idea since its red. With fenders blended it comes out to $1,432.98.

You could have the whole car repainted red for $1k. Just a mask and shoot job, but since it is red to start with, you would never know. I would say $500 to paint the hood and bumpers with base coat clear coat.

If you take the parts off, you can get the job done ALOT faster and cheaper.

Just repaint the car, yours looks like it needs a complete repaint. I hate when people bring in cars and the paint is all chipped, faded and scratched, then they will have a door painted and it makes the entire car look like ****.

Just save a little more cash and have the whole thing done, and have it done at a small shop. A $1000 job will look just as good as any higher end job if it is the same color. From personal experience(I work at a paint shop) if you are doing a color change, it would be worth it to take it to a higher end shop.

yeah i was about to say... 3k for a single color seems a bit extreme. My paint was about 8k and there are 4 different colors and 5 pearls all put together.

Hey guys, figured it'd be better to hijack this thread than make my own... I've got a 2002 NBM Formula that needs work. There are only about three panels on the car that don't need paint (passenger-side door, hatch, and rear bumper cover) for one reason or another (scratches, peeling clear coat, etc).

1. Is it cheaper just to have the entire car painted? I'll be keeping the same color.

2. About how much would I be looking to spend at a reputable, but not necessarily high-end, shop?

find a guy who does it on the side. you can get some real quality work if you find the right person. What I would charge someone to ust paint and buff bumpers and hood would be 6-700. Depending on how bad the damage is to the bumpers add 300 (rough estimate) and buff the whole car, i would charge 200. Id say about a $1200 at my shop which I paint on the side. Come to Jersey, ill hook you up!

I've found out that 75% or so of paint work is the labor to prep the pieces to be painted along with the removal and installation of the pieces. You'll save yourself a TON of money by removing the bumpers and getting some of the prep work out of the way such as sanding yourself....

Agree with Bdyman. I know at some body shops do paint/fix the body average~$70p/hr. plus the paint+primes+fillers things, cost expensive$$$...
