Question Paint underbody?

Since I have my transmission out and will be soon dropping the gas tank, it got me thinking. Should I paint the entire underbody (paint area's) or just clean it up and stick with the factory paint?

I think it would look nice to have the black underbody and I've seen it done... but then maybe a bit of a hassle at the same time. What do you think?

Basically a cruiser/show car. Only 28,000 and pretty much never see's rain. I've gotten caught in it a few times, which I don't mind since its only water.

Gloss black would be to hard to paint nice and even IMO.

If you use POR-15 it has a glossy look to it but is tough as a rock. My friend painted the entire frame of his el camino project car in POR-15 and it looks good and most importantly will never rust again.

I wouldn't mind getting the underside of my Camaro all cleaned up and rust-free, then coated with POR-15.

either way would be cool.more of a personal prefrance thing.be careful of por 15.it only really liks to stick to rust or rough metal.my stock k-member is proof.

Do what your time and patience will allow. The car isn't old so, there isn,t any repair issues. Gloss paint is much, much easier to clean if you go that route.

I do have a bit of time to go through and coat it. Plus the underbody is near-mint anyways, so applying paint would be easy. The quart of POR-15 I have sitting around is a satin black which should look pretty nice.

Was more of a debate on which would look better and if it would be worth the effort

I am doing mine right now. I have a couple fender wells done as well as the rear hatch area. I am doing the transmission tunnel and sides soon.

I painted mine with rubberized undercoating. The main reason was for sound deadening, not for rust, etc.
