Exclamation Help with BODY KIT

Kit is saggin on the right side- front and back, mostly the front. How can I tighten it up and stop the sag? I didn't install them and the guy who did is now inaccessible....

See how bad it's hanging? I'm excruciatingly careful about driveways etc, and I'm worried it's gonna sag so far it's going to start dragging on even small slopes... Please help!

hop under it, see if you see any screw or clip holes, probably not. looks like it was held on with double sided tape, i would take it off, clean it up and re-attach it

I'm not an expert but I have a 98 Z with the body kit. The original is held on with metal brackets, and you should get those.

Been under it, can't find any missing hardware... Might try pulling the two end bolts on the driver side so I can get some 3M in there and bolt it back on. It almsot seems like the kit is just a bit too long, there's a bit of a gap between the lip and the body....

so there is hardware on each side in between the wheels and the ends of the bumper right? sounds like the rest is just tape, i would take those screws off then get some fishing line and see how far you make it.

Exactly... Don't see anywhere else that it can be bolted or screwed down anywhere else under the car- which is fine, wouldn't want anything irreversable in case I want to take the kit off at some point...

Why the fishing line? Can you recommend a good adhesive?

Sorry to hijack the thread. Am I right in assuming that the kit you have on there is the RKsport front lip and the rest is the GM kit? If not what kit is this I love the look of that so much better than the one on my car. Also where did you get the front lip from?

fishing line so you can cut through the tape (which is what i'm guessing it's on with) and not mess up your paint.

i would stay away from glue-type adhesives because they can peel off the paint if you take the body kit off at a later point. go with a nice double sided tape

As far as the double sided tape goes I would try any local hardware store and find the stuff made by 3M they make a good quailty tape for putting on emblems and other things.

Just had a look at the RKSport site, and the kit comes equipped only with those 4 bolts and adhesive... Now for the fun part

just take your time, fishing line and wd-40 or you could even get some adhesive remover spray if the tape is sticking really hard.

VHB (very high bond) 3M double sided tape, a roll is usually about $25. It'll hold that up fine. Drilling holes would be a bad idea if you ever decide to remove the kit as you'll have to fill them/repaint.

Yeah drilling is definitely not an option. If it comes to that, the body kit's goin in the trash...

If it's anything like how the WW kits mount up, you'll need to pull the piece off & apply some new 3M double sided tape.

Alright fellas, i pulled the side bolts, stripped out as much of the old adhesive as I could, and stacked on two layers of new 3M adhesive. Then reattached, I think it looks much better.

im glad that worked out for ya and that it fixed your problem hope it dont happen again and may i say thats a hell of a camaro there looks really good from the pics you posted in this thread
