Default Best paint for headlight buckets?

Hey everyone I'm new here and have a few questions for you guys. The black paint on my headlights started to fade and crack and don't want to waste money on a professional painter when I could do it myself, So:

I was wondering what kind of sand paper, primer, and paint I would need.

Also, do you guys think I should paint them gloss black or flat black (which they are currently.) I also got to paint the front black bumper part where the fog lights are.

Thanks guys.

Heres an image for reference. You really can't tell in that picture.

Flat black and I belive 30 grit sand paper will work nothing real ruff tho. Be sure to use a black primer and sealer when you do it.

start with 320 to sand out all the bad spots then do it all with 600. I would tape around the area so you dont sand more then you want.

ya don't use 30 grit!!! start with 300 jump to 600 then prime it and smooth the primer out with 1500 or 2000 grit paper and paint i have my only theory i use the good **** cause i want it to look good i always buy my stuff from Sherwin Williams i work there and get a hella good discount ha ha! the only problem with flat is that most business do not sale flat clear coat and its hard to find so i would do a satin with a good clear and then it will last a decent amount of time with rock chips we get so easy

Thanks. People are recommending gloss but I don't have any other black gloss on my car so it would look so weird. The black that is on my car now has no gloss what so ever.

sorry didn't see crack and 1500 is overkill on primer if you go over anything on 800 on primer you're just wasting your time. do three coats of flexible high build sem makes a creat rattle can. guide coat . block with 800. then finish it with your hand to get block marks out.
