Default Tips On Painting Metallic Silver

I'm in the process of painting my LS6 intake and am through to the point of being ready to sand the primer. I've never sprayed metallic paint before and was reading that it can be tricky to make look good. I had read somewhere that you should alternate vertical and horizontal paint strokes (never heard of anything like that before) . Does anyone have any tips on making it look good? I'm using Duplicolor silver metallic spray can.

Using spray can it won't be too bad, it's when painting big parts through spray guns when you have to be carefull. Just use good even strokes applying the paint with a 50% overlap (cover half your previos pass with next pass) and you should be fine. You can't alternate directions but on an intake shouldn't be needed. Right after your last coat when it's still wet give it a light dust coat to even out metallics, then clear (if your going to)
