Ok ford fans..lol Here is the ppg codes for both the 96 mystic (5104) and 04 Mystichrome (903070). My only questions, and its a joke, is why would you disgrace your car with a Ford product..lol

in the process now of painting my car mystichrome. its a 98 z28 with sshood/spoiler im using the mystichrome off the 03/04 cobras looks alot better then the 95 color imo. its very expensive i paid 600 just for 2 quarts of base and its gotta be sprayed over black. im looking at about $2500 in just materials for this one.

The govt. paid BASF to come up with a color for the new money(paper) about 15 or so years ago. Look on a 20,50,or100 on the left side and the #s change color, that's Mystic. The Cobra was a deal they made with the govt. "we'll make a color that changes color if we can put it on a limited edition car". I was at a Ford dealer about 10 years ago and we had one of the cobras in the shop. When I got ready to do the paint work (hood,fender, and door) I called the paint store and set up a time for them to be there and the BASF rep showed up w/ enough paint to do the repair. He stayed and watched me paint the car and when I cleaned up my gun he took all of the extra paint(wasn't much) and made sure I poured the wash out in the waste container. They were like this because they didn't want any out because of counterfit $ could be made w/ the paint. Sounds kinda dumb but it's true, been doing this since '85 and that was the most crazy thing that I have seen.

btw. IT ALWAYS MATCHES. It's the only color besides maby black that you can panel paint without blending. I don't like the color there are better colors that do the same thing that Mystic. Diamont (BASF) has several, my favorite is Ocean. It's blue,green, and purple depending on where the light is. Mystic has a dirty mov (sp) color on one flop.

Last I checked real Mystic was around 1k per Qt. May be cheaper now, but I doubt it.

Guys on the old mystic paint they wouldn't give out the code, the new mysticchrome I know for a fact u can get it as I priced it to paint my mystic teal z28 that color. They gave me a price for ppg and it was $725 for a gallon which I thought was actually reasonable
