Default POR-15 Underside of car?

The wife is cutting my car fund drastically, so I was thinking about painting the underside of my SS. I was thinking about using por-15. I was just wondering what kind of prep work you need to do to apply it? Is it a pain? From what I've seen, it will definitely be worth it, especially since my car does see rain. Honestly, you can't drive a car in Savannah if you can't drive it in rain.
Post pics if you've done it.
Thanks in advance

I didnt use actual por-15 I used the napa brand spray on adhesive on my jeep and it didnt work as well as I had hoped. I did use herculiner on the inside cargo area and it's tough as nails. Once I get my floor pans all set and rust free, I'm going to to use this same stuff on the underside of my camaro. Its insane how tough this stuff is. I use my jeep mostly for moving crap and nothing has even dented this stuff yet, including my friends huge dumb 100lb lab. Here is a link to a how-to with tons of pictures. http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f58/hol...culiner-41282/

There are "instructions for people who don't read instructions" on their website. I'm about to coat my rearend with it here soon and I have a starter kit. The stuff is almost indestructible. Prep is easy.

Ive had great luck with POR on my under carriage parts. My crossmember is coated in it. My SFCS, before I went BMR powder coated, were covered in it. My 12bolt is coated in it. If its not something that sees UV rays, just slather it on and it'll look great for a long time!

Ive never experienced it peeling off in sheets, and I almost do no prep at all. My prep of the rear consisted of a wire wheel, and some brake cleaner to wipe it down. That was it. My raw crossmember I just sanded it a little, wiped it, and painted. Maybe I just got lucky but I never had any issue with it peeling.

It'll work for ya!

J.

If you gonna brush it on, it spreads nicely, just dont goop it on or else itll run or drip.

Heres a couple pics of my Moser 9" I did this spring. I did the whole POR prep kit and everything....Marine Clean, Metal Prep, then POR-15. Its nice.

no problem man, I probably won't get around to it till November or December, but I'll post pics up here when I'm done. I guess while I have the tranny out, I'll do the Tick Stg 2 rebuild and Tick adj master while I'm at it.

Wow Cornboy that makes me appreciate my rust free southern cars.
I worry about the underside getting dirt on it,not rust.
If you are going to brush it on ,buy a box of the assorted size foam brushes.
If this stuff goes on too thick it will bubble and look like a rice krispy.

I live in michigan.I dont worry about dirt, only rust!!This is my DD 1997 lt1 firebird with 2002 ws6 trans am conversion with 190,000 miles. It been over a year and about 20,000 miles later and it looks the same ''GREAT''. But i used the synthetic brushes.I tried the foam ones and they just fell apart.
