Default 1998 Camaro wheel well liner fastener question

How do you reinstall the two accordion style fasteners that face the door hinges? Either they are not reusable, or I'm not trying hard enough to get them back in (most likely).

Yes, I have replaced them before. In my experience, the assembly-line push pins are not reusable. The GM part number for the replacements is 20664092. That part number should get you a package of 10 replacement push pins (they cannot be ordered individually). I believe there are 3 needed per side (two towards the door, one towards the front), so one package will be enough for both sides.

The replacements are a slightly different design, reusable actually. They pretty much look the same once installed, but the center section is a plastic threaded screw that can be easily unscrewed for future removal, unlike the originals.

Hope that helps.

By some luck, I have been able to re-use the ones that are used to hold up the plastic liner on the back hatch. How I pulled that off I will never know but for the ones that hold the front inner fenders, I think I'm missing like one or two but I'll hve them replaced when my car goes to paint hopefully this year sometime.

^ Glad to see that the part number is still valid.
