Default How do I fix paint chips properly?

I have some very large paint chips on my DD. It's not a big deal how it looks, so I'd like to attempt to fix them myself.

Anyone know some good how to articles or advice on how to do this?

Not sure if this will work on large chips but I thought about trying it.

I've always used the touch up paints for rock chips etc. Won't work though for large flake-offs. Dab the paint in the "hole" with the brush then cover with masking tape to keep it smooth. After it's dry, peel the tape. If there's still a dimple, repeat the process. Wet sand the smallest possible area with a VERY fine grit like 1500 then buff the spot with rubbing compound by hand. You'll buff the spot several times until it's satisfactory looking. I've even done this on my previous black Trailblazer and after waxing, you couldn't see any of the spots.

So you didn't use any primer or laquer? I'll give it a shot.

No. Just make sure it's clean.
