Default Sail panel vinyl cover?

Since they do not make the Sail Panel replacements anymore, barring NOS stock that are over $1000, i was thinking of covering my sail panel with the new 3M Carbon Fiber material. Anything is better than looking at all those little bubbles and yellowing!!

How do you guys think this would come out? I can add little CF touches here and there to balance it out if needed, but i would prefer not to.

I've been curious of this too....unfortunately I don't think it'd look good on my black car. The depth of the paint against the vinyl would stick out. Might look good on a light colored car though.

It'd look cool if you cleared over it and buffed it smooth.

This idea has potential. I have never been a fan of CF though.

I seen it done with flat black vinyl and carbon fiber vinyl, they look great.

From what I've read from other peoples experiences, the bubbles still pop up.

I brought this up (wrapping a sail panel) in the sticky "BUBBLING SAIL PANEL" up top. The problem with this is the bubbles showing under the wrap or decal. Its like putting a sticker on your car with out cleaning it. As time and weather take its toll it gets worse.

The bubbles come back, usually faster when you repaint. Just an FYI.

I think i'm gonna give it a shot and have it cleared over

Now i gotta start shopping around, IIRC there is only one that seems to look decent it has the actual texture as well.

3M Ni-Doc Carbon Fiber film, it is VERY pliable when heat is applied and it does not melt or stretch (mess up for printed section)

Well you would need to measure the sail panel and they sell the fabric by the yard. The price varies depending on how much you buy. The lesser sizes run $7.50/sq.ft. and the larger sections run $5.90/sq.ft.

Not sure if 3M sells it directly but this is one of the more reputable vendors. Carbonfiberfilms

^^^ It's essentially the same thing just a specific type of high quality wrap with carbon fiber printed on it.

I personally think it would look tacky. just to have one random part of CF on the car, would definitely need other accents to set it off
