Default Undercarriage/floor board damage

Seems like the PO did a little off-roading and I noticed there's a nice size dent and some surface rust on the passenger side floor board. It doesn't look too serious and the rust seems to just be on the surface, but I'm afraid of it spreading. I have no idea how long ago this happened.

Trying to decide if I should try to bang it out with a rubber mallet and then por-15 it, have a legit body shop repair it, or just leave it as is..

Floor board:

Undercarriage:

On a positive note, I did find the t-top key I never had since owning the car lol.

That's an idea. I might just take it to my body shop guy and have him do it right. Don't know how involved thats gonna be though.

As far as the dent goes just step on it with your sneaker on. You could probably get the right shape back to maybe 90 percent

Yea I could give that a shot.. doesnt need to be perfect. I'm more worried about the rust than the dent.

dont spend money trying to have someone fix it, all you need is a rubber mallet and hammer that bad boy out. If you want to try to keep it more flat then get yourself a short piece of 2x4 and lay it on the floor over the dent and then hammer it that way.

then por 15 it or spray it, the rest of the undercarriage only has paint on it so you would only be preventing that one spot from rusting forever with por 15 there

Well I banged it back out pretty good with a rubber mallet and cleaned up the rust a bit. It was just on the surface and the metal wasn't cracked at all which was good. Now I just need to put a little paint on it.
