Default What type of paint is used for an engine block?

I will be taking my 67 Firebird in for painting soon and I will be painting the car candy apple red or wine colored. The engine bay will be black and I would also like the engine block to be painted candy apple red or wine colored. Why type/kind of paint is used for that. The current color is yellow which I will be getting rid of.

Thanks

I use base/clear on all mine. Clean it up good, wipe down with degreaser, red scotchbrite what's on there, seal, base, clear. Use all two part products (catalyzed) and you will be suprised. Chuck

I use regular paint, clean it very well and spray some good epoxy sealer on it, followed up with the same base/clear as the car. Never had any issues even around the exhaust ports
