Default swapping bodies

Hey guys, I'm looking at picking up a wrecked 01 SS. It's pretty tweeked in the back end and I don't think its worth fixing. so I was wondering if there are specific 98-02 f-bodies I should avoid looking at to put everything from the SS into. For example I found a 98 v6 body without a motor, trans or interior in it, but I'm not positive to what extent this body would differ and if its a good idea. Any other ideas on a what could be done with the SS would be appreciated.

Most of the time you can find a parted out SS or Z28 shell for real cheap, under 2500 bucks if its nice, 1500 if average or less. I would just wait till you find the shell you like, color and all. Most all parts are interchangeable on 93-02 f-bodys. Other than small things that differ camaros to trans ams that are obvious like the doors/hatchs/hoods/dashs/lights/things like that. All the hinges, suspension, brakes, things like that are the same. Hope this gets you start, good luck.

Everything is interchangeable. I have done what you ate going to do twice. The first time I did it I went from a 95 z28 to a 94 z28. I wrecked my car and found a completely stripped down shell for a 100 bucks on eBay. The second time I took the same z28 and built a 02 trans am clone. A lot of work but everything bolts up.

It depends how much work you want to do. I would pick up a z28 roller to save time on swapping little things

However if you have the time to do it the chassis are exactly the same. You will take a hit on resale value though because you will have to explain that it is a v6

Stay away from 98 cars, they have different wiring and fuel tanks. I swapped 99 LS1 to a 99 V6 body with minimal issues. As long as you have a complete donor car, it's pretty simple.
