Help! Painting sheet metal?

So I recently got the JAAM Ram Air kit. The lower portion appears to be just bare sheet metal. I want to paint this black.

Do I have to primer it first?
Should I hit it with some clear after the black paint?

I already have black semi gloss spray paint and clear. Need to know how important the primer is on this particular surface?

Any tips or instructions would be great. Thanks!

If you scuff the surface well with some sandpaper, and clean it well before painting, primer is not required, but is recommended.

Bare metel needs to be primed with self etch primer (thin coat).then primed with a 2k primer befor refinish.

I think a 1K spray can would work fine for this. I am a big fan of the etch primer over bare metal.
