Unhappy Bubbles in SS hood.

Does anyone know what the cause of this is?

Underside was a big blister that started to peel so I pulled it to see what it was like underneath.(I've gone over it with touch up & cleared it for now.

And these are the bubbles on the top which run down the right hand side & over both headlights.

Will getting the hood repainted cure it or will they just come back?

was there any body work done to the hood before? bodyfiller ? if so that might be the problem not sanded right or area wasn't cleaned before actually putting down the paint.

looks like it sat outside with a car cover on it, in HOT weather......

sand & repaint.....it will be fine if all bubbles are removed before repaint.

mine did that.....
good luck!

It's in the original paint, the bubbles over the headlights have been there 2-3 years but never really bothered me that much because they started off small.
I've only really noticed the ones on the driver side a couple of weeks ago & noticed the big blister under the hood a couple of days ago with smaller bubbles around it, I pulled some of it to see if it was in the paint or the fiberglass, you can see the weave underneath it.

I did find one post with a similar problem saying it was air pockets in the fiberglass. I do use a car cover outside when I know the weathers going to be bad but that wouldn't explain the bubbles on the underside.

Oh! and the black spot is just from the rubber bump stops.

Mine is doing the same thing, I'm having to dig out spots in the fiberglass to get all of the loose parts off.

That was happening along the back edge of my old car's spoiler. It was a line of really small bubbles along the lip, just like your 2nd pic. Not sure what it was caused by. I'm pretty sure it had original paint on the spoiler as well.

My clearcoat bubbled on my hood and spoiler both. I've read here that it's the consequence of a "not as good as factory" paint job from SLP on these SS parts.

I've owned my car since new. I noticed the first bubble on the hood this past winter. Not long after I caught a woman in a parking lot poking at it and pealed the clearcoat off that spot. I found the second one shortly after while washing the car. I seen a bubble of water on the hood that didn't run off. When I touched it with a micro fiber, it moved but didn't get soaked up. On closer inspection I found the water was under the clear coat. Over the last 6 months they popped up like crazy all over the hood and spoiler. Probably 10 big spots, quarter size or bigger. During wash the clear gets pealed off and I'm left with dull paint spots.

I've thought about hitting them with a spray can of clear as a temporary fix.

What the heck, that's messed up. Leaning against someone's car is bad enough, but poking and peeling at their paint?

Good ol SLP paint bubbles. I remember seeing these on relatively new Firehawks back in 2003 at an SLP day.
