Unless the insurance adjuster who got the cost lowered by $600 is an automotive engineer, with the expertise to decide what is and what is not a safe and effective repair, I'd tell him to go **** himself. He's not taking a risk by driving a cheaply repaired car, you are. He's not putting his name on the line by his work, the body man is, and he knows what needs fixing and what doesn't.

Don't let these people push you around. It's just another dollar for them.

Take it to a good shop they will supplement the insurance company, they did what is called a desk review any good shop will handle this for you, you wont get new pats from gm but at least really good used parts or new capa parts the capa parts come with a better warranty then oem any way. and yes ask for more money for your pocket because your car will have a mark on it if it gets carfaxed.

Every hit is going on the frame machine. At the very least to measure it. Wifes car was hit and the bumper was totally cracked up looked just like yours. I thought it was going to be just a R and R the bumper/support paint and install 600 bucks tops right?. Nope it needed a tug on the frame machine $2500 later. The body shop told me that any shop worth its weight will measure the car and make sure its still in spec no matter how light the accident is. The moral of the story is take it to your favorite shop and let the pros deal with it. No matter what the cost, the other guys insurance is liable for the price. They will try and pay you off do not accept it. Get your car fixed and have your insurance company send them the bill, thats what you pay premiums for so they do all the work in the event of an accident.
