Default Sanding for touch ups

Hello can anyone recommend what grit sandpaper to use to begin prepping car for primer/ paint? Not doing the whole car just sections needed. Not looking to go to bare metal. Thanks in advance.

Use a red scuff pad, make the panel dull then use a grey scuff pad with a product called Scuff N' Blend with water on the panels next to it because you'll need to blend the paint into the other panels. The pads I use are by 3M.
