Thanks!!
The clear coat needs to be redone (chipping and fading) and there's a few chips in the color coat. I'd like to not have to redo the color coat if possible, most of it still looks sweet. I may end up doing all the prep work myself and seeing what the best deal is for a clear from a body shop. Hopefully under 1k, but we'll see..

Unfortunately you can't just reclear it. Only ase you can reclear is if your clear is in good condition. You'll have to basecoat it then clear. That's the best case, it all depends how easily your clearcoat smooths out, you don't want to dig yourself a big dent by trying to feather it out. Then you will look down the side of the car and it will be a bunch of waves/ripples.

A good paint job, done correctly can cost around 4-5k even if you prep it yourself, there is al lot of detriming and taping need to be done. Plus, if someone brought me there car prepped I would definately be going back over it. Prep work is the most crutial part of a paint job. It costs around $1500 alone for materials. A gallon of good clear is close to $300. (not including hardner and reducer.

A paint job is no different than building your motor, do it once and do it right.

just some info,no camaro bumpers have ever been raw tpo plastic.all domestic, european and honda cars are primed,so normal prep work with a red scotch brite pad is fine.all asian cars except hondas are raw and require a little different steps.i only use grey pads on these.

Default seemless body lines

i have a 94 and for years ive wanted to fill in all the body lines and make the whole car smooth. i have tried bondo over and over again and it works fine for the rear quarters but always cracks on everything else. ive read these parts are made of a material called smc . will fiberglass resin and the mat or cloth work for what i want to do? or do i actually have to get this material ?

Yeah bondo and fiberglass don't go well. You'll have to do duraglass or an ANC repair like stated.

This should work.
http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...61Sbl&MDR=true

You will need a special 2 part gun that runs around $65. Pn 3m 08571

You can find both on amazon. Make sure when you use that stuff you lay out at least a 3" bead on a pics of paper or trash or whatever before you put it on your panel or else it won't be mixed properly and won't harden. It's only a 4 minute work time so work quickly.

Picked up an OEM ss hood over the summer.
This is what I started with on the outside.

Wanted to get that old nasty (probably rattle can) primer off of it.

Fixed a couple of pics and got some primer on it. Still need to block the whole hood and make sure there aren't any flaws in it. Then ill prime and block it again. I want this thing flat and smooth

This is why we use a hard block kids.

Put another 3 coats of primer on it, also I got the grill out today in 1 piece! Score!

I still need to adjust it. I hate the alignment of my whole front end. Oem bumper is needed asap. My battery is hitting my hood as well

It's shiny tho

The ss hood was 11 lbs heavier than the stock hood.
