Default Need Info on Ram Air hood

Well im wanting to get a ram air hood for my formula and cant find any locally in ny pa or nj for sale. So looks like im having to go after market, i found this on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-2002-Po...sories&vxp=mtr and im wondering if it is a good quality piece. If not what should i get, VFN is just way too much money to ship they said around 250$ to ship a 500$ hood. thats just nuts, any input is appreciated

Edit: I couldnt find any information about this hood through the search feature or google help!

Well it is fiberglass so be prepared for some fitment issues. More than likely you will have to shave and redo some areas. It helps to have extensive fiberglass experience or know someone who does.

I'd say go with a quality brand like TruFiber, but I'm biased. Most of the cheap ebay hoods need work and the price evens out. I'd rather have one be right from the get go. My TruFiber is perfect

I have a Trufiber WS6 hood on my 1999 TA. I bought it from the WS6 Store and got free shipping several years ago. Overall the hood was good, but my bodyshop could have done a little better job on the prep on the underneath. Also the hood had a Trufiber badge rivited on that I wish the bodyshop had removed before painting. And be prepared to buy the lighter hood struts from VFN because there is a big weight difference. The Trufiber is much lighter. You also have to buy the Ram Air decals separately. Overall I'm satisified.

Well the car was in an accident and its getting repaired so time isnt really an option. Oems are just extraordinarily priced right now. If i can get a trufiber free shipping ill get it, but im leaning towards this ebay hood sadly

Edit: Ws6Store is still offering freeshipping works out to 20$ more than the ebay hood, im sold!

I got my vfn hood yesterday very nice quality. And shipping wasn't $250 it was $142.50 which isn't due when you buy the hood but when it shows up. You won't be satisfied with the ebay hood once you buy it and it cost you far more in the end due to crappy process of making it.

The lady at VFN said since i live in Ny the shipping because of tolls and such will be around 250. But i think trufiber from the ws6 store is the best deal 537 and free shipping. And from reviews on the forum its the only thing close to an oem hood and on the same level as vfn. I know vfn is a sponser and i wish i could shop from them but it isnt in my price range.

I have quite a few friends that own junk yards and i asked them all, and they only found a few that were over priced even by ls1tech standards. The trufiber is ordered so well see, it got plenty of good reviews. I also picked up a set of gm hood vents for 58$ direct from gm. Its coming together.

Do I need special hood struts for the TruFiber hood or are formula hood struts okay?

I am still using my stock struts. does anyone advise against this? They don't seem to be stressing the hood at all
