Is he a good painter or a good thief? I have worked in a body shop for 16 years now and I can tell you this is hack work. Tell him to clean all of the overspay off of your car, exhaust tips, wheels, wiring, ect. and pull the plug.

ya know, in a way i feel for the dude if hes up against it but that in no way makes it right. If you dont know what your doing dont take on a job. Theres lots of work I turn down not even because I think we cant do it but simply i dont have the time or energy. Even if this guy wasnt up against it hes still royally fucked up your car and its his responsibility to make it right (financially not by finishing the car). We had some paint on a grill for a friend on here mess up recently and I ate the cost on it no questions ask. Wasnt even my **** up, rather the paint manufacture, however we made it right for him because its the right thing to do. Simple as that man... I'd be asking for money back, if hes really that up against it he should sell his shop and get out of the buisness cause the dude clearly has not a clue what hes doing in the first place. Time for a new day job

here's the way i see it, being sympathetic won't get my car the quality it deserves, personally i love my car so much to see 10% of what's done to your car done to it.
business is business, i think he's lying too, i he really had family death's, financial problems,
then why is his garage still open?
i'd think that it all should stop .. work etc..
financial problems? how is he supporting all those materials, bills etc?
THINK AGAIN, don't let your sympathy destroy you.
ask for the money back(or "sue & report him"< That is a must) get the car to a reputed shop, get it done with.

At this point I think OP is the one doing the body work and just learning as he goes. Now that 10 months is up and is "pulling the plug"...he means it's going to a real shop now.
Otherwise I don't see why you defend someone for this work and "way of business".

Good on you for pulling the plug, hopefully you can get some money back in court. Get to know a painter friend that can support you in court. Shops will screw with you if you don't know the terminology of a paint shop.
To add to that I had a production paint shop screw up my Camaro 3x, no joke. On the third mess up I called them out in person to the inspector, manager and owner. They kicked me out but I helped get them kicked off the Allstate guaranteed shops list
Don't let them screw with you in court...like I said, get to know a painter.

wow this whole ordeal you have been dealing with and that poor car is ****! i have never in my life seen such terrible work, i really hope you get your money back and get that car the paint she needs
