Default t-top conversion - Problems?

Hello

i know that's there some artikls with the same main theme.but I wonna know, is there a problem after some years?

i have a 99 z 28 coupe, and i would like to make a t-top version.

so - is there a problem, that when i cut out the metal pieces left and right - so that the hole car is cracking in the middle when i put the foot down to th floor?

or should I take subframes for a better stability? i am not really shure if this is a good idea

ciao JD

Coupes were made the same way as T-top models. They had a couple of extra panels added afterwards making them coupes. Structurally speaking they are the same.

And the t-top models from the factory have no additional bracing over the coupes.

Thanks a lot

So, there is no different at the lowee body? No extra's just these two metal pieces on the roof?

So it shouldnt be a problem when i cut these out or?

So a subframe isn't a must?

There is no difference between the subframe of the hardtop and the t-top. You can always add subframe connectors if you want, but it's not something that MUST be done. I've had both hardtop and T-Top F-Bodies and one that I converted from hardtop to T-Top. They all handled and felt the same.

oh yeah thats sounds really perfekt

so I will do this "upgrade" to my baby - I also will posts some pictures during the work and after

So now I only have to check all the pieces for the conversion - that will b the biggest Problem at the time and from were I am

and so I hope that my bodywork skill is enough
