It's amazing how many cars were affected by this.

Looking great it's a huge PITA for sure on a HT car but well worth the time.

Fingers crossed I just ordered a 6Le sail panel for mine I destroyed 2 perfect ones trying to get them off today. I just broke down and ordered it from them after taking a day off work and driving 3 hours to get to a yard my time and fuel dang near would have paid for it so aggarvating. I had one 3/4 of way off and my buddy moved his hand while cutting and craaack it went.

No kidding every single car made for 4.5 years and they did nothing to fix the cause of the problem

My 6LE panel arrived recently. It'll sit around for a while (probably at least a year if not longer) but I have it for whenever I can get it installed. NO body work being done until I own a house with a garage to put the Camaro in to keep it out of the elements.

Are the edges and surface finish of the 6LE panel nice and crisp and clean cut and look pretty close to your stock panel if you compare them.

I haven't unwrapped it from the bubble wrap. I probably should.

Yup, and our new ones are more expensive but it is because they are made in the states and the molds are done different so their fit and finish is OEM quality.

More like 4.25 years.

It's only the last ~3 months of '98s that were at risk. This is important to note because good used panels will only continue to become more scarce.

It's great to hear that the new 6LE panels are even better than before.

My '02's top was changed under warranty from the dealer but i wonder if it'll show up again or if they fix them right when they did them?

I would hope their fix would be permanent. It's probably been done for years now, if theres no signs of bubble yet I'd say you're in the clear.

That all depends on whether or not the dealer followed the TSB, and used the epoxy primer on the underside of the panel before applying the glue. There have been a couple of dealer "fixed" cars where the issue came back, but again that was because the dealer made the same mistake that the assembly line did (no primer/paint on the underside).

But like mentioned above, if it was done under warranty then this was probably many years ago. So if the car has been in the sun a lot since then and there are no bubbles, then it's probably fine.

FWIW, my '02 was also done under warranty by a local dealer, back in 2007 or '08. They told me they had done a few others, so they were experienced with it. The car has sat outside almost every day since that time, and there isn't even the slightest sign of bubbles or waves in the new roof.

The 'new' roof is on. Now the real test; will it bubble again...

Looks great. I live in Puerto Rico and theres not many junked cars. Not even offering to pay I can find anyone willing to ship me a used sail panel. Quite ridiculous.

That sucks that it's so difficult to find a sail panel. Have you ever given 6LE a call? That's one good thing I found out; if it bubbles again I've got a ton of hard tops in local salvage yards to choose from haha.
