Formula to Trans Am Conversion (Updated Pictures)
#23
IMO best looking 4th gen firebirds have a firebird/formula front bumper, and trans am hatch, rear bumper, side skirts.
Gives the car a slightly pointier look to me which makes it look planned out.

I did have 2 people in the last year ask if it was a 6 cylinder while it was parked. It has taken a little time to get used to but I really do like the end product.
I do have the hatch and bumper for sale if anyone is interested.
Thanks for the complements!

That was only til I believe 95 though where it was optional. Onwards the high rise was factory on Trans Am. I wanna say it was part of that Firebird GT package, but I'm almost positive I'm remembering that part wrong.

I want to say it was 94-96. I know I've seen a 96 with the low rise spoiler from the factory, a gentleman in my parent's neighborhood purchased it new and it came that way. I think in 93 all T/A's had the high rise spoiler. There was a guy on Tech back in the day who laid it all out in a post and had all the factory info on it, but I can't find it. It was really informative though.

The GT came with leather, T-tops, 155mph speedo, z rated tires, and high rise spoiler. The non-GT cars (like the ones pictured above) had optional T-tops, 110mph speedo, no 1st gear selectability in autos, non-Z rated tires, low rise spoiler, and cloth seats (leather was an option). The non-GT cars still had the TA side skirts, front bumper with fog lights, and bigger rear bumper, however.
Basically, everyone thought it was stupid and got even more confused on the differences between firebird trims, so they did away with it for 1995 and went back to the formula being the cheaper car, and the TA being the fully loaded car with all the bells and whistles.

Actually it was 1994 only. In 1993, The fully loaded Trans am was perceived as too expensive, so in 1994 GM offered the Trans am "base model" and the "Trans am GT" as the fully loaded package. So in 1994 you could either get a Trans am, or a Trans Am GT.

The flat spoiler option got increasingly more and more rare as the years went by.

Fair enough on the spoiler being an option on the 94-97 years, but it doesn't make what I said about the '94 cars untrue. 1994 also had more low-rise spoiler TA cars than every other year combined, however, and the '94 Trans am GT cars had the highrise spoiler standard.

well I was on craigslist last night and found a guy about 70 miles from me that was parting out a T/A (he bought it for the LS1 to swap into his 1970 something 270z project car) and emailed asking what his best price on his rear bumper and side skirts would be and he emailed back 125 bucks, so naturally I jumped in the car and drove my *** down there, no way was I gonna pass that up even if they are the wrong color.
