Hello,

this might seem like a simple question, but can someone please tell me how to remove to hood strut? I would like to leave the mount attached to the hood and did not know if I can simply pop the pivot ball out of the strut??? If possible, I just would like to remove the shock.

Take a small screwdriver and insert it under the tab at either end of the strut. It puts tension on the ball. Once inserted, just pry it away from the strut tube, and give it a little tug. It will come right off

 

Thank you sir, I just did not want to break anything. I just had a Trufiber hood installed and the struts seem to be VERY strong. I am afraid that I might break and or crack the hood. I also need to make some adjustments and with the struts being to strong, small adjustments may be too much of a challenge. Thank you again!!!!!

 

No problem bud. Should come right off without a hitch.

 

get your self some new low pressure struts before you crack your hood! I put a carbon fiber WS6 hood with new struts from autozone. I can close my hood with one finger and it stays up even in cold weather.

 

For the time being until you can order some softer hood struts just use one strut and when closing the hood just be careful not to yank it down.
