Default Paint Windshield Cowl?

Got it off atm cleaning all the leaves and stuff and was wondering if anyone painted theirs? I got some leftover plastic dip from painting my wheels, would that work?

you could Plasti-dip it, I've seen someone on here do that, but IMO anything other then the stock "plastic" black looks horrible on any car.

I think I've seen one or two cars on here that smoothed the rough surface and went gloss black and I still didn't like it, some things should just be cleaned up and restored back to stock if you ask me.

I agree with the PlatiDip option. Paint just wouldn't look right.

I've seen the painted ones but they're too glossy IMO. I was looking for more of a matte finish. Guess I'll try the plastic dip and see how it turns out.

SEM brand plastic spray. Color 1501 which is called Landau Black. It is a satin type finish is the closest to a new part. Actually cannot tell the difference once sprayed. Best out come would be to buy a pint and use spray gun but, you can buy it in aerosol can as well. I think the plastidip will turn into a mess in the end. By all means don't use any kind of gloss. That would be tacky.

Ended up using plastic dip, I personally think it came out great. Pics of the whole project:

Also got new Bosch wipers, mine were falling apart

Looks great! only maybe paint area behind it also? Agree that maybe stock look fits most I had to go reworked and smoothed and painted tacky gloss black since rest of car was glossy. just tried something different from all the rest and thought I'd put up pic.

body shops often use "trim black" that comes in spray cans to freshen up faded black trim pieces, mirrors and stuff like that. Also if you are spraying parts that are bare plastic, a adhesion promoter should be used so the paint will not flake off down the road. I guess this doesn't apply for plastic dip lol

Question now is how long it will last. I'm trying to avoid paint ATM since I'm new to painting and spraying so plastic dip is perfect since results are nice but if I mess up I just peel it off

Are these the panels you're referring to? I took mine off and gave them a quick scuff, then sprayed them with reg automotive paint, came out pretty decent.

end result...

Took me about 30 min, removing the wiper arms was the hardest part.

Do any of you have a part number or a link for the rivets/fasteners that hold the cowl trim in place?
