Default What spray on clear to use on freshly polished headlights ?

As title says, I just polished and cleaned to almost brand new clarity.

Is there sometype or clear coat I can use so I don't have to Polish them ever again or Atleast prolong them from going yellow in 2 months?

Probably can use them on taillight also to keep them shiny.

Thanks !

I investigated this when I still had a daily driver LS1 Camaro that had to sit outside, since the constant UV exposure just kept re-oxidizing my restoration work. It seems that basic clear coat spray paint doesn't work very well or long for many, and that a higher end/professional 2-part automotive clear would be needed for best results.

Haven't tried it yet, but there is 1 time use 2 part spray clear rattle cans now. I got the spray max 2k glamour clear #368 0061 from a paint supply dealer at last weekend's Daytona turkey run for $20. Has 48 hour pot life once activated, can be refrigerated to help this. Eastwood is one mail order supplier.

Not as cheap as a spray paint, but you can try Opti-Coat (two part mix) or Opti-seal (easier spray on). You can use them on paints, plastics, wheels, etc and it makes it easy to wipe clean. I've got Opti-Coat on my new wheels but haven't actually had it out in the elements to test the durability. Just know that whatever surface blemishes are there will get sealed in once you apply the stuff.

Look into opti-lens. It's a bit expensive but it will last longer than any other headlight protectant. Autogeek and Autopia Car Care are having lots of sales right now.

You may also want to invest in x-pel once the opti-lens has cured for even more protection.

The bad thing is if you want to "clear" the headlights they should be sanded to obtain adhesion. What I would do is remove the headlights and sand them with 500 wet sandpaper until fully dull. Then I would contact some local Body Shops and ask what they would charge to put some urethane clear coat on them. Its not a lot of effort for the shop because they commonly have extra clear after painting. I would expect to spend between 20 and 40 dollars.

Please don't do that, 500 is too coarse for just clear, use 1000 or grey scotch pad.

You can easily clear over 500 grit, I have even cleared over 400 but you can just pick up slight sanding marks. If you don't use coarse enough paper you won't get enough of the dead plastic off. I guess if you have haven't seen it done it makes it hard to believe.
